Sunflower or Chrysanthemum

SUNFLOWER or CHRYSANTHEMUM

Middle

(this could become a flower of its own. I sew in one or three beads into the middle and attach it to a hair clip. It looks especially cute when made with 100% mercerized cotton thread size 3):

4 ch, ss into the first ch to make a ring

Row 1: 3 ch, 15 dc around into the ring

Row 2:

(work into the front loops of 16 dc) 5 ch, ss into dc, 5 ch ss into the same dc, (5 ch, ss into the next dc, 5 ch, ss into the same dc) repeat 14 more times;

(work into the back loops of 16 dc): (5 ch, ss into next dc, 5 ch, ss into the same dc) repeat 15 more times.

Finish off.

Petals

4 ch, ss into the first ch to make a ring

Row 1: 4 ch, 19 tr around into a ring

Row 2: *(6 ch, ss in 3rd from hook, sc in  4th from hook, hdc in 5th from hook, dc into 6th from hook, ss into the tr) repeat into the same tr* repeat 19 more times, ss into the base of the first 6 ch of this row. Finish off.

Sew the middle of the flower onto the petal part and attach to a hat or a clip.

The hat is taken from NLS Stitchings.  They also have a male version.
