Our Knitting Night: Complete Success

After years of crocheting ideas, projects, and deadlines, we decided to jump into 2015 with a KNITTING CHALLENGE. We had a very successful gathering with no one visibly frustrated by the new task.

This is our little crowd (most of us last night):

We learned stitches:

  • cast-on using a ‘long tail’ cast-on method
  • knit
  • purl

One of our first time knitters watched a video tutorial on youtube before coming to the Knitting Night and she was very successful on her first-time attempts of cast-on, knit, and purl stitches. As soon as I get the link to this particular video, I will post in here.

These are four dishcloth patterns that we collectively worked on (thank you, Fiona, for your research and help with the samples!):

Materials:

  • All of these dishcloths need ‘Peaches&Cream’, ‘Sugar&Cream’, ‘Lion Cotton’ or any other thick cotton yarn (medium 4).
  • Match your knitting needles to the suggestions on the ball of yarn. You won’t go wrong with sizes 4, 5, 6, but 7 (4.5mm) is recommended by all three brands above.
