gift image made-548295_1920

In November and December 2015 we will tackle a Christmas Donation to Anchorage Community Mental Health Services that works with people who are severely mentally ill such as schizophrenia, highly traumatized, or homeless, and so on. Our deadline is set for December 15th, so we can donate our items for Christmas. They need 12 hats for kids of different ages and 12 hats for adults. Over the years our group has collected some yarn; for this project I […]

Hats Made with Love

Several months ago our Crochet Group decided to make hats and give them to women who have cancer in our local hospital. We haven’t met for the whole summer and I was worried that this project would die out without constant encouraging and reminding. Some of us have either been a victim of cancer or seen a friend, or a loved one go through it.  As a result of understanding a need for moral and […]

Yellow and Orange Hat

Yellow and Orange Hat I used Nancy Smith’s pattern Reversible Strands for Men and Women from NLS Stitchings  for the base of the hat. I changed color every row. At the bottom of the hat I used a row of sc and the last row of reversed sc. Also, since I live in Alaska and all these hats are too cold, I used double strand of Simply Soft instead of single strand (it is easy to have double strand […]

Hat Patterns We Liked at Our Crochet Group

Allie added several rows of clusters to the original pattern to compensate for tight crocheting style and thinner than recommended yarn. Turned out very beautiful.

This is another hat which became a hit at our crochet group. Here is the link to it and a picture of what Allie’s hat turned out like.       This is my version of the newsboy hat. I added the flower and left the brim out.     This is another cute hat. This one is also a free pattern from NLS Stitchings, same Reversible Strands for Men and Women with a free Sunflower clip pattern by Briteloops. […]
