Thneed Progress

2013_thneed_design

Last night our Group got together and had a crochet blast. People worked on different projects such as blankets, hats, edging, and parts of the Thneed we are currently making. Donations of yarn helped us to decide on the exact colors of a Thneed. We received Red Heart yarn of orange, bright red, dark red, and a box of variegated green-yellow-orange colors!   We asked Katya to be our Public Relations representative. She visited the […]

Hats Made with Love

Hat_collage

Several months ago our Crochet Group decided to make hats and give them to women who have cancer in our local hospital. We haven’t met for the whole summer and I was worried that this project would die out without constant encouraging and reminding. Some of us have either been a victim of cancer or seen a friend, or a loved one go through it.  As a result of understanding a need for moral and […]

Tie-Headband with a Flower

Rachel_edit

A couple Crochet Groups ago our faithful friend came with an idea for a project. When I asked her what she would like to make today, she said “its hard to explain, but you will see in a little bit.” Within an hour and a half, she made a cute tie-headband she saw while visiting her family in a different state. This is what it looked like.   Isn’t this original and beautiful? I need […]

Easter: Dishcloth or Loofah?

SAM_4170

Easter: Dishcloth or Loofa? This may sound bizarre, but this round loofa-looking thing can be a great Easter Basket candidate. You can give this to your mom, dad, an aunt, an uncle, a sibling, a cousin, a child, a spouse, or anyone else for that matter. This gift comes with a hint. Whether it is a “give me a hand in the kitchen” kind of thing, or an extension of a wonderful kitchen gadget upgrade, […]

Granny Squares: Small and Large

grannySquares1

Granny Squares Every crocheter begins their journey with making simple stitches. This classic Granny Square is a great beginner project. It has basic stitches and teaches you to understand how to make a square from the center of your work. When I was little, I remember this being one of my very first projects. I made 10 squares from  thick nylon thread using different colors in each square. Then I made 2 slippers using […]
